Bowlegs is a town in Seminole County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 371 at the 2000 census. ==Etymology== Bowlegs was named after an early resident, Lula Bowlegs, a descendant of the Florida Seminole Chief Billy Bowlegs. It has been a popular misconception that the town was named after the chief. It has frequently been noted on lists of unusual place names. The name of the town was popularized by the 1976 song "Bowlegs" by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.
